Topic: Prayer Prepares (Mark 1:32-38)
Have you ever watched a surfer ride the waves? A good surfer has rhythm with the ocean, knowing when to stand up, when to ride and when to bail. It's like they are connected to the ocean. Well, Jesus had a similar connection, but His was with His Father. And guess what? We can have that same connection too!
In Mark 1:29-34, the crowds are bringing the demon possessed and sick people to Him. Jesus was healing the sick and casting out the demons. After a long day what does Jesus do? He goes to the mountain to pray.
In Mark 1:35-37, Jesus wakes up early, finds a quiet spot and prays. He connects with God before He does anything else. That's like ensuring your phone is charged for the day.
Then in Mark 1:38-39, Jesus tells His friends why He's here. He's not just a healer; He's a preacher. He has a mission, and He's sticking to it. He's like a surfer who knows exactly when to ride the wave.
So, here's the challenge for this week: Spend some time each day connecting with God. It could be in the morning, at night or whenever it works for you. Just find a quiet spot, pray and let God recharge you.
Questions to ponder:
- What challenges do you face in maintaining a consistent connection with God?
- How can you incorporate prayer into your daily routine?
- What changes do you hope to see in your life as you embrace the importance of prayer?
Take time to pray: "Jesus, help us to connect with God like you did. Teach us to pray, to recharge and to ride the waves of life with You. Help us to live out our mission with Your power. Amen."
See you Sunday!
