We’ve just wrapped up with our county fair. What a week, right? I imagine many of us who spent any amount of time at the fair has a story or two we could share. Did you connect with people you hadn’t seen in some time? Face to face, that is. Were you able to catch up or did you just share a “hey, how are you” and move on?
Maybe you met some new people.
Maybe you had a conversation that you’re still thinking about.
Whatever your week looked like, I’m confident that God already knew who He would put in your path. He already had a plan for what your week would look like. Spoiler alert, He has a plan for what next week will look like too!
God puts people in our path for many reasons. The biggest reason, in my opinion, is so we can point them to Jesus. Even our sisters and brothers in Christ. Yes, and our family and friends too. Co-workers, yep!
Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Matthew 15:16
Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 2 Timothy 4:2
Have you ever prayed and asked God to show you your purpose? To show you His plan for your life, your career, what’s next? Well, I have the answer to that prayer!
I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. John 10:9
Whatever it looks like I’m confident that wherever He places you is right where you’re supposed to be. And whoever He places you with is who you’re supposed to be with. Whatever it looks like for you, the purpose of being in those places with those people is to point them to Jesus. To point you to Jesus. That’s His plan for you and for me.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
We all experience hard seasons. Tough situations that we wish we could flee from. Those trials are meant to grow us and the main purpose of them is to point us to Jesus. (Let me insert a disclaimer here: if you are in an abusive situation, I’m in no way saying you should stay in that situation.)
Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. John 14:1
Where do you find yourself right now? What does life look like for you right now? Let me challenge you to look to Jesus. Stop trying to figure out the next step. The next right move. Stop trying to figure out why this person or that person is or isn’t in your life right now. Look to Jesus. He’s the answer. He’s what you need right now. At this moment. At this place in your life. In your story.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:16
